Meet the newest member of the Catalon Casa, Farmington aka: Farms, Farmi, Chicky Chicky Farm Farm ❤️ We could not love this dude more and have gone through a whirlwind so if you're interested, keep reading.
It was our volunteering day with @austinboxerrescue and we were asked to pick up a dog they just received from the San Antonio shelter.
After a few minutes with Farms, we quickly realized he was in need of some TLC and love. He was severely malnourished, had non-stop diarrhea and could barely lift his head up when potential adopters came by to see him.
I told Steven we couldn't send him back to the shelter while waiting for a forever home -- he wouldn't survive. He has the sweetest demeanor and was just so fragile.
Unfortunately, the decision to bring him home was out of our hands. We have our Ambergirl who has historically not been the most friendly to fellow dogs (she swears she's a human, idk). We decided to arrange a meet and greet the following morning before committing to anything. Dropping Farms back off at the shelter left a pit in my stomach because I didn't even want him alone for that night.
I had a series of pep talks with Amber (I'm crazy, sure. But I swear Amber understands us) and kept telling her there was a dog out there who really needed a home and somewhere to recover. I kept telling her she had to be a good girl and to be gentle when she meets him, because he probably can't handle her rough and tough behavior.
The following morning arrives, Steven and I are cautiously optimistic and we decide to go get the amenities for our potential dog. We got two beds, a toy, his own water and food bowls and some bougie food to help him gain weight.
When it's time to head to SoCo to introduce Amber to Farms, we got into a huddle with Amber and fervently said a prayer. There's nothing about Amber that has led us to believe she would be okay with another dog and here we were, arranging a visit with the most feeble dog I've ever seen.
